I participated in a workshop on the topic of “Future of the RICS profession”, on the occasion of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, on November 21 at the UK Embassy in Vienna.
The lecture was held by Prof. Barry Gilbertson, the 123rd RICS Global President, a leading personality in real estate consultancy.
The discussion focused on the situation of the profession in the context of the latest developments, developments generated by globalization and the uncertainties brought about by it. Also, the solutions needed to adapt to a growing degree of urbanization and the essential role of lifelong learning and ethics have been approached to increase stakeholders’ confidence.
In conclusion, RICS and the other professional associations of the real estate consultancy industry must remain relevant in all debates and decisions that the future holds.
